The interrelations of the serum proteins in liver damage, with special reference to the thymol test.

چکیده
Maclagan (1944a) demonstrated that phenol and certain derivatives when dissolved in barbiturate buffer at pH 7.8 produced a turbidity with human sera. He observed that under specified conditions sera from normal persons gave a negligible turbidity, and the most marked turbidities occurred with sera from patients suffering from parenchymatous liver damage. The concentrations of phenol or phenol derivative required to produce

BINDING OF NAPROXEN TO SERUM PROTEINS IN PATIENTS WITH LIVER CIRRHOSIS AND HEALTHY INDIVIDUALS
A three-fold decrease of the in vitro ability of serum proteins to bind naproxen was shown in patients with cirrhosis of the liver compared to healthy individuals. This decrease was caused by quantitative changes in serum proteins in the sera of patients with liver damage. Lower doses of naproxen are therefore suggested in the treatment of patients with liver dysfunction.
متن کاملEffects of thymol on non-alcholic hepatic liver induced with chronic immobility in rats
Abstract Background and Aim: Considering the role of oxidative stress on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and changing lipid profiles, the antioxidant effect of plants and fruits on biochemical indicators was investigated. Thymol is a phenolic monoterpene that has antioxidant properties. According to the above, in this study, the effects of thymol on improving the symptoms of non-alcoholic fa...
متن کاملEffects Alliume Satium and Silybum Marianum Supplements with four Weeks Incremental Training on Some Serum Indicators of Serum Muscle and Liver Damage in Wrestlers
Bakground: Strenuous exercise, particularly eccentric contractions can lead to exercise-induced muscle damage (EIMD). The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of garlic and silybum marianum supplements with incremental training on some serum indicators of muscle and liver damage in wrestlers. Methods: Thirty wrestlers with selectivly and random were divided into 3 groups of 10 partic...
متن کاملA study of the thymol turbidity test with special reference to buffer behavior. Formulation of a modified reagent using tris-hydroxymethylaminomethane.
Replacement of barbiturate buffer by a tris-hydroxymethylaminomethane buffer in the thymol test reagent of Maclagan greatly improves the stability of the reagent. Thymol turbidity measurements made by means of the modified reagent agreed closely with those made with barbiturate-containing reagents. However in hyperlipemic sera, the latter reagent gave higher turbidities. A reaction of barbitura...
متن کاملSerum Liver proteins and 17β-estradiol in Postmenopausal Women with Breast Cancer
Background: Breast cancer is a hormone-dependent malignancy that is associated with estrogen and progesterone interactions. The liver is the most important organ to be affected by the metastasis of breast cancer, which causes functional impairment. We compared levels of obesity, 17β-estradiol, and secreted proteins in postmenopausal women with breast cancer but without hepatic symptoms to those...
